As economic growth we consider the increase in real output (real GDP) over time caused by additional resources (production inputs) and higher productivity of these inputs (more efficient production methods). As economic development we consider not only the increase in output but also the structural, technological and institutional changes in production and distribution of product Animal Products plays an important role in the sociology- economic life of India. It is a rich source of high quality of animal products such as milk, meat and eggs. Exports of animal products plays an important contribution to the Indian Agriculture sector. The export of Animal Products includes Buffalo meat, Sheep/ Goat meat, Poultry products, Animal Casings, Milk and Milk products and Honey etc.In term of export from India, Dairy Products and Casein recorded 21%, and 12% growth respectively, during the financial year 2016-17 over the same period of last year. The major importing count India is having largest livestock population including Buffaloes, Sheep & Goats, Pigs and Poultry, which are generally used for production of meat products. There are 24 meat processing plants including 13 are hundred percent export oriented units who are mainly engaged in export of meat products. As the support from Corporate and government body increases opportunity in all the aspects are huge .

BUFFALO MEAT:

Areas of Production: The major areas for Buffalo Meat production are Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab.
Major Export Destinations (2016-17) :Vietnam Social Republic, Malaysia, Egypt Arab Republic, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. The biggest market for Indian buffalo meat, at Rs 13,125 crore, was Vietnam in 2015-16. Malaysia (Rs 2,683 cr) was a distant second, followed by Egypt (Rs 2,326 cr), Saudi Arabia (Rs 1,416 cr) and Iraq (Rs 767 cr).

Major Export Destinations (2016-17) :Vietnam Social Republic, Malaysia, Egypt Arab Republic, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.

SHEEP & GOAT MEAT : Goats – Sheep constitute a very significant species of livestock in world as well as in India. They are considered to be very important for their involvement to the development of rural zones and people.
Areas of Production:
Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Hilly regions of North and Eastern Himalays are the Indian regions with maximum livestock population.

PROCESSED MEAT : Other Meat constitutes a very important species of livestock in India. They are considered to be very important for their contribution to the development of rural zones and people. The local initiatives to promote quality labels and innovative products for cheeses, meat and fibres could help Swine/Pigs, Rabbits, Horse, Camel, Primates etc in keeping a role for sustainable development in an eco-friendly environment all over the world.
Areas of Production: The major areas for Swine/pig Meat production are Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra.

The country is largest exporters of Other meat to the world. The country has exported 78.51 MT of other meat to the world for the worth of Rs. 0.91 crores/ 0.14 USD Millions during the year 2016-17.

India, being a country with numerous states and vast area , has resources for production of animal casings of high quality with excellent calibration and shining colour . This makes India one of the major exporter of animal casing in the world. Animal products including the products or animal casing like Bladders & Stomachs of Animals, Casings of Other animals, Cattle Casings, Guts for Animal Casings, Sheep Casings etc.

The country has exported 173.24 MT of animal casings to the world for the worth of Rs. 13.84 crores/ 2.07 USD Millions during the year 2016-17.
Major Export Destinations (2016-17): Albania, South Africa, Turkey, Portugal and Lebanon.

DAIRY PRODUCTS : India now has indisputably the world’s biggest dairy industry—in terms of milk production; last year India produced close to 146.31 million tonnes of milk, 50% more than the US and three times as much as the much-heralded new growth champ, China. Appropriately, India also produces the biggest directory or encyclopaedia of any world dairy industry.

India’s Export of Dairy products was 39,397.62MT to the world for the worth of Rs. 910.44 Crores / 136.06 USD Millions during the year 2016-17.

POULTRY PRODUCTS Poultry is one of the fastest growing segments of the agricultural sector in India today. While the production of agricultural crops has been rising at a rate of 1.5 to 2 percent per annum, that of eggs and broilers has been rising at a rate of 8 to 10 percent per annum. As a result, India is now the world’s fifth largest egg producer and the eighteenth largest producer of broilers. The Potential in the sector is due to a combination of factors – growth in per capita income, a growing urban population and falling real poultry prices. Poultry meat is the fastest growing component of global meat demand, and India, the world’s second largest developing country, is experiencing rapid growth in its poultry sector. In India, poultry sector growth is being driven by rising incomes and a rapidly expanding middle class, together with the emergence of vertically integrated poultry producers that have reduced consumer prices by lowering production and marketing costs. Integrated production, market transition from live birds to chilled and frozen products, and policies that ensure supplies of competitively priced corn and soybeans are keys to future poultry industry growth in India. There are number of small poultry dressing plants in the country. These plants are producing dressed chickens. In addition to these plants, there are five modern integrated poultry processing plants producing dressed chicken, chicken cut parts and other chicken products. These plants will manufacture egg powder and frozen egg-yolk for export.
Areas of Production:
Over all, Tamil Nadu counts for maximum egg production. In Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad is the city with maximum poultry and hatcheries. Besides the state of Andhra Pradesh, Vishakhapatnam, Chittoor, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and North Eastern States are the major egg contributors.

Major Export Destinations (2016-17) : Oman, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia,Russia and Maldives.
